Janel Frost is mom to four children; her third is “Deafplus,” meaning deaf plus other conditions. Janel has a B.A. in Human Services and A.A. in Early Childhood Education. She worked in early childhood education for over 20 years and has dedicated her life to improving education outcomes for all children. Janel has been with Michigan Hands & Voices since 2007 and was instrumental in re-establishing the struggling organization in 2012 and structuring it for success. Janel was the first recipient of the 2017 EHDI Conference Family Leadership Award. Janel guides Michigan Hands & Voices and directs the educational advocacy program called ASTra as well as legislative initiatives. She is especially interested in cultivating new leaders from within the Michigan Hands & Voices community.
