This fact sheet was developed by several prominent organizations that serve or represent people who are deaf and hard of hearing. These organizations include: American Speech–Language and Hearing Association, American Academy of Audiologists, Hearing Industries Association, Deafness Research Foundation, Academy of Dispensing Audiologists, Alexander Graham Bell Association, and Self Help for Hard of Hearing People.
