| 2/12/11 | LCC 2011 STAR SEARCH - Performance 2:00pm & 7:00pm Lansing Community College Dart Auditorium on main campus Lansing, MI Cost: Tickets are $5 each pre-ordered by Jan 22nd; $8 at door LCC Star Search is a fast-paced, visually entertaining musical interpreting performance that is presented twice annually at Lansing Community College's Dart Auditorium. Employing a Sign Master, LCC Star Search has become one of the most popular performances at LCC, captivating the deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities in Lansing and across the state. Star Search began in 1997 as a graduation celebration. Students who successfully completed the LCC Interpreter Program were required to interpret a song for their friends and family at the end of the year. The performances quickly became the highlight of the festivities, and eventually the whole production was opened to the public. Going by the name of "Star Search" after the popular talent show from the 1980's and 90's, we've been growing in recognition and awareness in recent years. LCC Star Search is a "deaf friendly" production, meaning all content is performed in American Sign Language and an emphasis is placed on visual performances with costumes, dancing, and acting. Our performers are beginning and advanced students currently enrolled in the Sign Language/Interpreter Program, and since auditions opened to the public in 2008, we've added Alumni to the cast as well. We take great care to make the show accessible and enjoyable to an audience of deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people.
