Armando Acosta, a deaf man from Ecuador will talk about his native country and explain its many customs and traditions. He will also demonstrate Ecuadrian sign language which is based on the spoken Spanish language.

1/16/06 One World One Family (OWOF) presents a program in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. 7 pm at Chelsea High School
The program will be signed by ASL Interpreters.

The program will include announcing the elementary, middle school and high school winners of the essay contest and reading the winning essays, presentation of OWOF Carrying the Dream Award, a short drama piece on Rosa Parks by the High School Diversity Club and a movie of Dr. King actually delivering his I Have a Dream Speech.

Directions: The new Chelsea High School is located at 740 N. Freer Road on the eastern edge of Chelsea. Chelsea is located on I 94 about half way between Ann Arbor and Jackson. To get there, get off at the Chelsea/M52 exit and go north on M52 toward Chelsea. You will pass several lights. You will come to a corner with a light with a closed grocery store on your right and the Pamida shopping center on your left. This is Old US 12. Turn right (East) on Old US 12. At the first light turn left (North) on Freer Road. You will pass Pierce Lake Elementary School on your left right away. In several "blocks" you will see the new high school on your right.

Have you ever dreaded the "rated R" interpreting assignment or intimate video relay call? If so, come to the workshop. This workshop will explore ASL signs and concepts associated with drug use, sexuality and the diverse signs used within various registers and euphemisms. 2/19/06 "Angels in America: Part 1: Millennium Approaches" - Interpreted Performance
To be presented by LCC Performing Arts at Lansing Community College

The LCC theatre program will present Millennium Approaches, the first in Tony Kushner's two-part drama exploring love, loss and hope for the future in the age of Reagan politics and the exploding AIDS epidemic of the mid-1980s. Yet, " Angels is still prophetic in our post 9/11 world," said director Diana Van Fossen .

Angels in America is recommended for adult audiences; it contains explicit situations, adult language and some nudity.

General admission tickets are $10 adults, $5 students, seniors and LCC alumni. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Arts Tickets Box Office located in the Center for the Arts, 425 S. Grand Ave. in Lansing.
